Racing Seat Threaded Boss Kit:
Racing Seat threaded insert kit. Allows Racetech seats without back-mounting capability to be retro-fitted. Also, this kit is most often used on RT4009 and RT4009HR series seats.
Kit includes:
- Harness guides 2X
- Threaded inserts 2X
- M8 bolts 2X
- Washers 2X
Additionally, this kit install does require some practical ability and some tools to complete. Also, please read the following (1 page) installation instructions before purchasing.
INSTRUCTION FOR INSTALLING THREADED INSERTS FOR SHOULDER MOUNTING
This instruction refers to the following Racetech seat models:
RT4009, RT4009W, RT4009HR, RT4009WHR, 9009, 9009HR
Step 1. Mark Location of Holes for Drilling
Find the centre of the rst ‘e’ in the embossed Racetech logo on the rear of the seat. Measure 153mm (6”)
horizontally left and right from centre of ‘e’ and mark hole centres.
Step 2. Remove Harness Guides
Using a screw-driver or similar at tool, break out harness guides. The plastic will most likely crack, this is no
problem as you will replace them with new harness guides at the end of the process.
Step 3. Separate Cover and Drill Holes
Peel back the seat cover from the head and shoulders of the seat. Hold the cover away from shell and carefully drill
two 16mm (5/8″) holes in seat shell.
Step 4. Check Fit and glue.
Slide the inserts between cover and shell into the two holes to ensure they fit. If the fit is ok, remove and add a
2-part (steel-to-composite) adhesive to the flat face of the inserts. Press inserts into holes and push against the
shell. Add an M8 bolt and washer to each insert and nip up tight to the shell until the adhesive dries.
Step 5.Clean adhesive.
Clean of any excess adhesive.
Step 6.Replace Cover and Harness Guides.
Re-instate seat cover and install new harness guides using ABS cement to adhere the two plastic halves together.
Step 7. Add Back Brace.
Shape a steel back brace to curvature of the seat at the shoulder area and bolt to the threaded bosses now in seat shell.
